Wagner Chief Raises Flag Over Bakhmut for Assassinated Blogger Vladlen Tatarsky

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the Wagner chief, has raised a flag in tribute to the military blogger who was assassinated in a bomb blast on Sunday as he claimed “victory” over the city of Bakhmut.

Mr Prigozhin claimed that from a “legal” point of view, Bakhmut had been captured by Russia.

In a video posted on Telegram on Sunday, he claimed a Russian flag emblazoned with the words “good memory to Vladlen Tatarsky” has been hoisted above the city – referring to the ultra-nationalist war correspondent, fighter and propagandist who was killed in St Petersburg.

Tatarsky, one of the country’s best-known pro-Russian military bloggers, was an outspoken supporter of the Wagner group and its actions in Bakhmut. But Ukraine on Monday said Russian forces were “very far” from capturing the embattled eastern town.
