Morocco’s King Mohammed VI Chairs Ministerial Meeting

King Mohammed VI chaired today a Council of Ministers meeting at the Royal Palace in Rabat. The meeting was devoted to draft decrees related to the military and a number of international conventions.

It focused on the approval of draft decrees related to the military and a number of international conventions, according to a statement by the spokesman of the Royal Palace, Abdelhak El Mrini.

At the beginning of the Council, King Mohammed VI inquired about the results of the current agricultural campaign and the measures planned to support farmers due to the rise in agricultural raw material prices.

The Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fishing, Rural Development, and Water and Forests responded to the monarch’s inquiries, stating that despite years of drought, cereal production for the current campaign is projected to reach approximately 55 million quintals, a remarkable 62% increase compared to the previous campaign’s 34 million quintals.

The minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to implement a support program for farmers, including allocating a budget of MAD 10 billion ($1 billion) to support imported feed for livestock and poultry, and reduce the cost of production for certain vegetables and fruits through the support of imported agricultural raw materials.

Morocco’s agriculture has been equally corked to strengthen the financing capacities of the Credit Agricole du Maroc, an agriculture-focused bank, and ensure the adequate supply of the market until December 2023 by importing soft wheat.

The council equally approved several draft decrees relating to the military. The decrees include the launching of the Royal Interarmy School of Administration, which aims to provide training in administration and finance for officers who have graduated from training establishments of the Royal Armed Forces, as well as personnel from the National Defense Administration and military officers from brotherly and foreign countries.
