Military Museum Opens in Isabela


The military museum put up by the 5th Infantry Division Museum here in Barangay Upi continues to attract tourists and visitors since its formal opening two days ago.

The museum displays old and new weapons and equipment used by the military in the past 50 years. It also showcased the rich history of the 5th Infantry Division (5ID) which covers Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and some parts of Ilocos Region.

Maj. Rigor Pamittan, 5th Infantry Division spokesman and public affairs chief, said all local and foreign tourists are welcome to visit the newly opened museum.

Pamittan also emphasized the importance of understanding the history of the infantry unit, which has served and protected the citizens in Northern Luzon for more than 50 years.

The 5th ID Museum also features a repository of antique army logistics, recovered objects, and chronicles of stories depicting the sacrifices and heroism of the infantry unit in various eras, including the Spanish and American periods, Japanese invasion, insurgency in the 70s, and the operations from 1990 up to the present.
